Grants Specialist Job Description

The Grants Specialist delivers outstanding customer service, skill, and results to Scandiuzzi Krebs clients seeking to develop and maintain revenue from foundation, corporate, and government grants.

Qualifications and Skills


  • Track record of success researching, writing, submitting, and reporting grants from foundation, corporate, and government sources.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and in person.

  • Ability to quickly understand and digest the culture, mission, and needs of culture and community building organizations and other potential clients.

  • Ability to collaborate in the articulation and development of goals and programs.


  • Ability to match organizations with funders and recommend high-likelihood opportunities.


  • Ability to write about the value of racial and social justice and BIPOC and LGBTQ+ led and serving organizations. 


  • Demonstrated competency with and commitment to anti-racism.


  • Sense of humor; embrace collaboration; love for adventure.




  • Meet with clients independently and in concert with other members of the Scandiuzzi Krebs team. 


  • Develop plans and calendars for grants applications.


  • Acquire necessary information from clients to answer proposal questions.


  • Understand organizational tone and brand, and communicate that in proposals.


  • Write proposals and ensure timely submissions.


  • Develop budgets and other supporting materials for proposals as needed.


  • Develop reports and ensure timely submission.

Compensation and work environment


  • Our current roster of grant writers are at full capacity. We are looking for someone to join our team with availability to take on new clients as we continue to grow.

  • Compensation is at variable rates for internal work ($25/hour) and billable hours ($50-75/hour to start).

  • You can create your own working schedule with minimal internal meetings. 

  • We do not currently offer benefits besides the legally mandated paid sick and family leave.

  • We welcome folks who have other jobs and are looking to transition to consulting.
